Tim Sherwood

Tottenham released a subsequent club statement on their official website only seven hours after the official dismissal of Villas-Boas, confirming the appointment of ex-technical co-ordinator Tim Sherwood as the interim manager, while the club finds an adequate replacement.

"The club can announce that Tim Sherwood, Chris Ramsey and Les Ferdinand will take charge of the First Team whilst the club progresses discussions. Steffen Freund and Tony Parks continue as part of the coaching staff."

Sherwood is notably known for his involvement in a gaffe by the then-Blackburn owner who coined the famously regrettable phrase in 1995: "Why do you want to sign Zidane when we have Tim Sherwood?"

However, the new interim manager has found success in recent years with the Spurs' development team and has reportedly impressed the management with his coaching abilities.

According to, sources have revealed Sherwood is on course to land the permanent job if he improves the club's playing style and match results.

Sky Bet has Sherwood as the runaway favourite to replace AVB permanently, handing him odds of 9/4.
