The agent of Fabian Schar has revealed that Arsenal are interested in signing the FC Basel defender, reports The Metro.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with the defender in recent time and it now appears that he could make a move to the Emirates.
With uncertainty over the future of club-captain Thomas Vermaelen, Arsenal's manager Arsene Wenger is looking for a replacement for the Belgian star.
And on the possibility of Schar leaving Basel for Arsenal, his agent Dimitrios Papadopoulos, told reporters: "Arsenal? I can confirm we have had contact with English clubs who want to sign him."
With the Swiss star reportedly available at around £6 million, Arsenal could now make a move for him in January.
However Arsenal's immediate attentions will be on their clash with Chelsea on Monday night.
The Gunners currently lead the Premier League table by two points and will be desperate to secure a victory over their title rivals when the two sides go head-to-head in north London.
And as the Gunners look to continue their march to the title, Schar could be the latest signing at the Emirates.
