Capital One Cup poised for all-Manchester final?

Following the draw for the semi-final of the League Cup on Wednesday night, it emerged that the final could well be an all-Manchester affair.

City and United avoided each other in the draw on Wednesday evening, with City taking on West Ham and United to face Sunderland.

After stunning Jose Mourinho and Chelsea in the dying stages of extra time of Tuesday, Poyet and his men will face United, who knocked out Stoke City.

Pellegrini and his men will face West Ham, who pulled off a superb victory against a Spurs side in turmoil following a heavy defeat to Liverpool, resulting in the departure of Andre Villas-Boas on Monday.

With both sides heading into the semis as favourites, many will be expecting an all-Manchester final. And with their league form failing to impress fans so far this season, United and Moyes will be expected to overcome Sunderland to book a place in the final.

As for Pellegrini, he sees his City side in fantastic home form at present, and the latest thrashing of league toppers Arsenal sees them just three points behind Wenger's men.

Both sides will fancy their chances against sides that are struggling in the league. United's opponents Sunderland currently lie bottom of the Premier League, and are already five points away from escaping the relegation zone.

The Hammers find themselves currently down in 17th and just a point above the drop zone. But despite their league positions, both teams came through tough quarter final ties against Chelsea and Tottenham respectively. And the managers of both sides will be hoping that their teams can carry their cup form into the league and begin to climb the table.

But there is no doubt that the Manchester sides will be favourites to reach the final in February. And having already run out 4-1 winners against United at the Etihad Stadium this season, City fans will fancy their chances against United should the teams meet at Wembley.
