Birmingham chairman David Gold believes the qualities demonstrated by Karren Brady which earned her the title of the ´first lady of football´ will help in the battle to overcome aneurysm of the brain.

Blues managing director Brady is to undergo surgery on Monday which is expected to keep her away from her desk at St Andrews for a month.

Gold told PA Sport: "We are all shocked to hear Karren has to have an operation but she is the first lady of football and you don´t achieve that without being strong, determined and resolute.
