Monaco are closing in on a transfer window deal for Anzhi Makhachkala striker Lacina Traore which, it is claimed, will serve as a blow for both Manchester United and Liverpool.
The 23-year-old has scored 13 times in 29 appearances for Anzhi since his transfer last year but, it would appear, is set to be sold as the Russian club look to recoup some of the vast millions spent in recent seasons.
According to talkSPORT, Monaco appear set to complete the transfer of Traore ahead of Manchester United and Liverpool after an agreement was made with Anzhi for the move to be sanctioned once the transfer window opens next month.
The acquisition of another striker would not appear to be priority for Manchester United manager David Moyes but, even he does decided to bolster his strikeforce, the Scot can now cross Traore off his list.
Liverpool, meanwhile, would appear more likely to need to reinforce their goalscoring options given the lack of numbers up front, although Brendan Rodgers has already been able to complete the best piece of possible business before January.
The Reds confirmed on Friday afternoon that Luis Suarez had agreed a lucrative new contract with the club, that will see him remain at Anfield until 2018.
