The mere presence of the name Manchester United on a fixture list used to bring chills to the opposition. For quite sometime now, since Manchester City started to bring the top talent to the blue half of Manchester, it hasn't been the same.

Sir Alex Ferguson brought the best out of a mediocre team. It was never a one man show, it was always the team. A team which had the ability to make great comebacks, a team which never lost belief.

But the United team of this season, have the name but not the same aura. Small team usually play more defensively against United, but now are going for it all. The sense of fear which came with facing United is slowly and steadily fading away.

United for their part have bounced back after a rough patch, which saw the face back to back defeats since the year 2001. With both Newcastle and Everton pouncing up the opportunity. The worrying issue isn't the defeat in itself but the inability to comeback from going a goal down.

United have lost five games so far this season and are presently placed at 8th. United cannot slip-up again, a slip-up could result in a dominoes effect. No Europe next season, could see top stars leave United, the team could be in a place where they may not be able to attract top talent and it could result in three consecutive league defeats at Old Trafford which hasn't occurred since the year 1979.

Moyes though says that there aren't any nerves surrounding the upcoming clash and believes United fans and player alike are keen to get back to winning ways.

"The results have not been what we wanted," Moyes told reporters.

"Because of that, words like nervy, vulnerability, anxious all come to mind."

If United wish to regain their aura, a lot of work has to be done. United have some valuable momentum going into today's game with West Ham, a game they should be intent on winning.

With good signings in the upcoming transfer window, it is possible for United to turn this season around.
