Long-term Chelsea target Radamel Falcao will not be leaving Monaco insists vice-chairman Vadim Vasilyev.
The Columbian international joined the Ligue 1 outfit in May after another prolific season with Atletico Madrid led to a £50 million deal.
And despite constant links with Premier League side Chelsea, Vasilyev has stated his determination to keep their star player in France as they look to build a squad capable of Champions League success.
"People believe it is suspicious to have such a great player in France. They ask 'When will he leave? In January or in June?'," said the Monaco vice-chairman.
"We have always stated that Falcao is essential to our project. He allows us to hire other players and build a whole team," he added.
Chelsea continue to be linked with the 27-year-old with reports they may make a January move for the striker as the likes of Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Samuel Eto'o struggle to find the net on a regular basis.
After securing promotion back into the top flight of French football, Monaco were one of the biggest spenders of the summer after financial backing from Dmitry Rybolovlev saw them sign a host of star names with Falcao their marquee signing as they bid for Champions League qualification.
Despite sitting pretty in second place, they suffered a surprise 2-1 home defeat to Valenciennes last night, a game which saw Falcao miss a spot kick.
