Middlesex and England fast bowler Steven Finn is desperate to come back into the England side after having missed out on the first three Ashes test matches.
Finn wasn’t able to play the Boxing Day test last time around as well and he hopes that it won’t be so this time.
In an interview with ecb.co.uk, he said: “It would be great to step out at the MCG”.
“I have never done it before having missed out last time in the Test and one-day series.
“To play on an occasion like that would be fantastic and something that I would really cherish.
"Realistically, I need to put my hand up in the nets this week, bowl quick and accurate, and that is something I am trying to do.
“It is just going to be a case of me bowling as well as I can in the nets and trying to catch someone’s eye.”
But, at the same time, he also has in mind that getting into the England side for such an occasion won’t be easy at all.
The presence of Jimmy Anderson, Stuart Broad and the excellent form of Ben Stokes could make it difficult for the 6ft 7" lad to make it to the side.
“Being a fast bowler, you realise you’re going to miss out unless you get to the standards of someone like Jimmy (Anderson) or (Stuart) Broady, you’re going to miss out every now and again," he said.
“It has been a disappointing Test tour so far but I still have three weeks of it to try and make it better.”
