Manchester United sent scouts to Portugal to watch Benfica's clash with Vitória Setúbal as they continue to monitor Ezequiel Garay, Nicolás Gaitán and Nemanja Matić, reports Abola.
David Moyes' side currently sit in seventh place in the Premier League and will be hoping for an improved second half of the season.
And now it appears the Manchester United boss could head to Portugal in order to improve his side.
Both Gaitan and Matic are on the radar for the Red Devils boss, however it appears that his main target is centre-back Garay.
The Manchester United manager appears to be eyeing long term replacements for club captain Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand and could now add bring in Garay to compete with the likes of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans.
It remains to be seen as to whether the Manchester United boss will move for either Gaitan or Matic as he looks to improve his midfield options.
