Liverpool fans worldwide saw their team take top spot in the Premier League on Saturday following another good victory, a 3-1 win at home to newly promoted Cardiff City. And it was that man Luis Suarez who again took the praise having bagged two himself, taking his League tally to 19 goals already.
Suarez, who missed the opening encounters following his lengthy ban for biting Chelsea's Ivanovic towards the end of last season, has returned in quite emphatic form.
Missing the first five league fixtures sees his tally stand at 19 goals in 12 games, and has set a new record for a Premier League striker at this stage of the season.
And having signed a new deal earlier in the week, it seems that the free scoring striker is set to remain at Anfield, despite reports still linking him with a move to Real Madrid. Fans will be hoping the contract signing signals his intent to stay and continue to give his all for the red side of the Mersey.
It was feared that Suarez was on the verge of leaving Liverpool in the summer, but with Arsenal lodging a formal bid believing they may have met a rumoured 'clause', Rodgers insisted he was going nowhere.
His faith in the somewhat troublesome striker is being fully re-paid, and Suarez has fired Liverpool to the top of the Premier League.
Liverpool may see themselves passed by Arsenal should things go for the Gunners on Monday, but there can be no doubt now that The Reds are firmly in the race for the title. Even missing the likes of Daniel Sturridge, and most recently skipper Steven Gerrard, has not stopped Liverpool in their hunt for a first Premier League crown.
A huge win away to Spurs that led to the departure of Andre Villas-Boas from North London was a performance that showed just how much Liverpool have improved under Rodgers.
Jordan Henderson has begun to show why he was so highly rated at Sunderland, stepping up his game and being used centrally as well as out wide by Rodgers. And more positives have come from within Liverpool's academy system, with the likes of Raheem Sterling being given the chance by Rodgers also.
But it is Suarez who is the star man at present, not just at Liverpool but throughout the Premier League. Despite missing the start of the season, Suarez sees himself six goals clear of Man City's Sergio Aguero in the scoring charts, and has more than double the tally of Wayne Rooney.
Such dominant displays have seen rumours of Madrid's interest reignited, but having signed his new deal with the club, Liverpool fans have much to look forward to. If they can keep this superb form going, there is no doubt that Liverpool will challenging at the very top come the season finale.
