Chelsea £35m target's contract talks stalling

Chelsea may have been given a boost in their pursuit of Porto hotshot Jackson Martinez after he revealed progress was slow in talks over a new contract.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly desperate to add some firepower to his squad come January and has singled out Martinez as a possible option, though Porto are desperate to hang on to their leading striker.

Martinez is quoted by Portuguese newspaper Record this week admitting talks were slow going with his club, but that he was staying calm in the face of a possible impasse that could lead to him being sold.

Chelsea were reportedly in talks with the Colombia international, who has been a sensation since being brought in to replace another reported Stamford Bridge target in Radamel Falcao.

Porto are unlikely to be keen on a sale and the release clause in his current deal, which runs to 2016, is reported to be in the region of £35million.
