Manchester United remain keen on signing Benfica trio Ezequiel Garay, Nemanja Matic and Nicolas Gaitan, according to A Bola.
The Premier League champions have been courting the aforementioned Benfica stars for a while now - but have been unable to tie up deals for the trio.
However Manchester United could renew their interest in the stars when the transfer window re-opens at the beginning of January.
Reports suggest a Manchester United scout ran the rule over Garay, Matic and Gaitan last Friday, when Benfica beat Vitoria Setubal 2-0 at the Estádio do Bonfim.
Garay and Matic both played the full 90 minutes, while Gaitan was replaced with just two minutes left on the clock.
Argentine international Garay said back in October that he came close to sealing a move to Old Trafford in the summer until David Moyes took over the reins from Sir Alex Ferguson.
Former Chelsea star Matic and attacking midfielder Gaitan were also said to be on Manchester United's radar before Ferguson's exit last summer.
However it now appears Moyes could follow up Ferguson's interest in the stars, as he remains keen on bolstering his midfield options and may need to sign a new defender if Rio Ferdinand moves on at the end of the season.
