Real Madrid have launched a bid for Manchester United target Everton Ribeiro - but have been knocked back by the player, who is keen on a switch to Old Trafford.
The talented midfielder made a name for himself in 2013 by helping Cruzeiro to the title, while he was also named the Brasileiro's player of the season.
According to Sport, Real Madrid made an offer to Cruzeiro worth around €7 million that was rejected by the player himself.
The paper adds that the Brazilian club are anticipating an offer in the region of £12 million to come from Manchester United shortly.
The 24-yar-old was reported as saying yesterday that he would favour a move to Manchester United over Real Madrid.
"Yes I would like it more," he revealed.
“The structure they have there is one of the best in the world. There were more than five pitches on the training ground, I was impressed. I have already visited for a lecture with Sir Alex Ferguson.”
His agent also claimed that talks had begun with the Red Devils over a potential switch to Old Trafford.
"Manchester United want him," said his agent, Robson Ferreira.
‘David Moyes has been impressed. I’ve already been to England and talked personally with them.
"In United’s opinion, he is the complete midfielder."
While Manchester United seemingly go about bolstering their midfield they were handed a boost in that area when Michael Carrick returned to training from injury this morning.
However, yesterday it was confirmed that £27.5 million summer signing Marouane Fellaini would be out for up to six weeks after he underwent surgery on a long-term wrist complaint.
