7. Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur's potential transfer activity is probably the hardest to call of any Champions League contender, with new manager Tim Sherwood unlikely to have a transfer warchest despite sitting back in seventh place.

Sherwood has a large squad thanks to Franco Baldini's wheeling and dealing in the close season and may have to stick with what he's got, although a loan strike option looks a distinct possibility if Jermain Defoe forces through a move to Major League Soccer.

Spurs have also looked short of a reliable midfield anchor and experience at left-back in recent weeks, but expect adding a sprinkling of quality in attack to be their top priority when the window reopens.
