Premier League: Best strikers of 2013 (6)

Published 3 Comments

1st place: Luis Suarez

Premier League goals in 2013: 29

At this very moment in time, there is a very strong case to be made for Suarez being considered as the best footballer on the planet.

Last term he was in the running for PFA player of the season but perhaps his off-field antics counted against him. Now, back from his ban and hopefully out of trouble for good, the Uruguayan is showing what he can really do.

He has 19 goals in the Premier League already this season - he's only the third player to achieve that and he missed that start of the campaign - while he has 42 goals in his last 45 appearances over the past two seasons.

That's a truly stunning run of form that puts his right up there with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Whether his form is enough to carry Liverpool to a top four spot or even the title remains unclear, but undoubtedly we are looking at the player of the season. In 2013, there was no one better than Luis Suarez.
