Arsene Wenger has revealed that Aaron Ramsey will miss the rest of the Christmas period through injury, having been bought off with a thigh complaint during yesterday's victory over West Ham.

According to the Daily Star the Arsenal boss has confirmed fears that the club's most in-form player this season is set for a spell on the sidelines- and will definitely miss the Gunners' upcoming fixture against Newcastle.

The news will undoubtedly be troubling for Arsenal fans, who have become accustomed to Ramsey's high performance levels this season.

However they can take optimism from the fact that Jack Wilshere will be available for the clash at St. James' Park having completed his two game ban and Tomas Rosicky- who was rested in the 3-1 win over West Ham- could also feature.

Both Lukas Podolski and Laurent Koscielny are also expected to travel with the squad for the Newcastle game, with the former having scored on his return from injury yesterday and the latter seemingly close to recovery following the horrific gash he sustained in the loss to Manchester City.

Wenger will be hoping for a good performance from his squad as despite the fact his side remain at the head of the Premier League table, only a win against Newcastle will be enough to guarantee that they stay there.
