Piers Morgan takes six-ball battering from Brett Lee

When TV presenter Piers Morgan attempted to defend England’s cricket honour with a showdown against Brett Lee, there was only ever going to be one outcome.

But, quite bizarrely, the former Britain’s Got Talent judge actually came out of this six-ball barrage with some credit as the Australian speedster peppered his opponent at close to 90mph.

The pair had been involved in a light-hearted battle on Twitter, after Morgan was critical of the tourists performances Down Under. Already 3-0 down, the Ashes urn is back in Oz.

Lee was ready to defend his fellow professional however, suggesting that batting against the very best is a little harder than he might think. Morgan, never one to shy away from a challenge, accepted the duel and it drew a huge crowd in the nets at the MCG.

What followed was, quite simply, brutal, with the former Austalian paceman offering an initial warning with a ball that court the TV personality on the body as he boldly charged his foe.

The next delivery flew over Morgan's head, sitting him on the seat of his pants, before Lee got down to business with two more body shots and a yorker that removed the batsman's leg stump.

'Umpire' Mark Nicholas called it a no-ball, allowing for a sixth ball to be bowled, and unsurprisingly the body was again targeted.

Morgan stood firm to shake hands with the former Ashes winner at the conclusion of the the over, but he'll be wearing the battler scars for weeks to come after six balls from hell.
