26 year old Italian defender Dominico Criscito has confirmed through his agent that he would prefer to move to Fiorentina, amidst interest from Genoa and Juventus. Tottenham were strongly linked with a move in the summer transfer window.
Criscito currently plays for Russian Premier League side Zenit St Petersburg, and was linked with a move away from the side in summer.
His agent Andrea D’Amico told Gazzetta dell Sport: "We are ready to talk to Fiorentina without problems.”
The Italian left-back moved to Zenit from Genoa in June 2011, and has made 21 appearances for the Italian national team. He missed out on Italy’s Euro 2012 squad amidst allegations of match-fixing.
Criscito is understood to be more interested in a move to Fiorentina to maximise his chances of inclusion in Italy’s World Cup squad. Regular playing time for Viola in his home country would provide the maximum opportunity.
After being linked with a move to Spurs to replace the on-loan Benoit Assou-Ekotto in the summer, Spurs fans will be buoyed by the form of Danny Rose and Kyle Naughton in recent games, meaning missing out on Criscito would not be a problem.
