Chelsea to risk losing France star to Man United by delaying bid

Chelsea will not make a move for Saint-Etienne defender Kurt Zouma until next summer, according to the Sunday People.

Jose Mourinho's Chelsea have been monitoring the 19-year-old centre-back over the last couple of months, as the west London outfit are keen on strengthening their defensive options.

Manchester United and Manchester City have also expressed an interest in Zouma, however Chelsea were said to be leading the race for the highly-rated teenager.

Zouma, who has featured in 11 of Saint-Etienne 18 Ligue 1 games so far this season, is currently serving a 10-match ban as his horror tackle on Thomas Guerbert broke the midfielder's leg .

The France Under-21 starlet is due to return to action next month, as he has already missed seven games through suspension.

It was originally thought that the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City were going to try to tempt Zouma into moving to the Premier League in January, however it now appears that the trio will battle for his signature next summer.
