Arsenal have joined the race to sign Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen and are mulling over meeting the German international's £10m release clause, according to Bild.
Ter Stegen has been consistently linked with a summer switch to Barcelona in recent months, as the Catalan giants pursue a long-term replacement for Victor Valdes as the last line of defence.
The 21-year-old was offered a lucrative new deal by Gladbach in October, but is currently keeping his options open as some of Europe's top clubs continue to monitor his situation.
Barca and Juventus now face fresh competition for Ter Stegen's signature from the Gunners, who are thought to be considering providing number one Wojciech Szczesny with increased competition for his place.
Szczesny has earned a new contract this season after returning to form following an indifferent spell last term, which led to Lukasz Fabianski taking his position during the second half of the campaign.
The Gunners also currently have a third option in Italian international Emiliano Viviano, with the stopper still yet to play a minute of first-team football since his loan switch to the Emirates last summer.
