Liverpool have agreed a 'first option' deal for Arsenal target Will Hughes, according to the Mirror.
The highly-rated youngster has been the subject of rumoured interest from a number of Premier League clubs in the past few months, but if sources are to be believed then it's Brendan Rodgers who has seized the initiative in the race for his signature.
The Mirror reports that Rodgers has made a pact with Derby which will ensure they have first-option on signing him whenever it is that the Rams decide to sell, whilst Reds youngster Andre Wisdom will also be sent to Pride Park on loan for the rest of the season as part of the deal.
The news may come as a blow to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who has also been linked with a move for Hughes this year. Everton were also said to be weighing up the possibility of an offer, with Roberto Martinez keen to improve his midfield.
