Arsenal fan covers himself in jam after losing Bendtner bet

One Arsenal fan found himself in a sticky situation after he was forced to cover himself in jam following Nicklas Bendtner winner in Arsenal's 2-0 win over Cardiff City yesterday.

The Gunners look to have got themselves into something of a jam as they tried and failed to break down a resolute Cardiff defence at the Emirates Stadium.

With minutes to go it looked as though they would relinquish their grip on top spot in the Premier League - only for the unlikeliest of heroes to emerge and bag the winner.

The much maligned Nicklas Bendtner rose from the bench to lead Arsene Wenger's thinly spread squad, and somehow the great Dane wriggled through a jam-packed Cardiff defence to tap home a rebound from Bacary Sagna's header to prompt pandemonium amongst the Arsenal faithful.

However not all Arsenal fans were left smiling.

Indeed one, @_ArmchairGooner, was left ruing the fact that, before the Gunners had huffed and puffed their way through the first half, he had tweeted:  "If Bendtner scores the winner, I will cover myself in jam and tweet the results. You can hold me to that."

Bendtner duly scored the winner - with Theo Walcott doubling the lead in the dying seconds - and the consequences of his words finally sunk in.

"F****** hell," he mused. "Looks like I'd better go out and buy some jam."

A trip out in the ol' jam jar and a load of Tesco's finest conserve later and the picture was up online for the world to see.

That'll teach him for ever daring to bet against Bendtner again.
