The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are closing in on the appointment of Lovie Smith as their new head-coach, reports cbssports

It had recently been reported that Smith was the No.1 candidate for the job as the Buccaneers went in search of a replacement for Greg Schiano who was fired alongside Mark Dominik earlier this week.

And now it looks likely that Smith will be handed the job in the coming days.

According to La Canfora, Smith will look to add Jeff Tedford to his coaching staff who will operate as the offensive coordinator. He will also look to bring Leslie Frazier to the Buccaneers as his defensive coordinator.

However it remains to be seen as to when he will be appointed officially as the new head-coach of the Buccaneers.

Smith will now be hoping he can achieve great success at the Buccaneers as he prepares to enter a new chapter of his career.
