Carmelo Anthony set to return against the Spurs

The New York Knicks are expected to be boosted by the return of Carmelo Anthony when they take on the San Antonio Spurs tonight, according to reports.

The Knicks have massively struggled this season, with their current record standing at 9-21, but the return of their star performer will undoubtedly give them the lift they need to pick up results.

The New York outfit’s recent woes were compounded by the injury to Anthony, which has seen him miss their last three games. His team were subsequently heavily beaten in all three.

In contrast the Spurs are in a good run of form and have won three straight matches, including a complete domination of the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday.

The return of Anthony may just be enough to inspire a change of fortunes for the Knicks, but it’s highly unlikely they’ll be hoping for anything but a good performance against tonight’s opposition in what is the first of a three game run in Texas.

Before his injury Anthony was averaging 26.3 points a game.
