The first half of the 2013/14 Premier League season has been one of the best and exciting Premier League seasons to date. There has been goals, controversies and a whole lot more. But in the first half of the season, how have Aston Villa fared?
Birmingham based side Aston Villa sit in 11th place in the Premier League and have 23 points from their 20 games so far.
After a 15th place finish in the 2012/13 season, Aston Villa will no-doubt want to consolidate or finish higher than their position last season. Currently in 11th, it seems it is going quite well for the club.
However so far this season, Villa haven't hit the goal scoring front as much as they would like with top scorers Christian Benteke and Libor Kozák scoring just four league goals each.
During the summer transfer window, manager Paul Lambert brought in a number of signings; Libor Kozák, Jores Okore, Aleksandar Tonev, Antonio Luna, Nicklas Helenius, Leandro Bacuma and Jed Steer. Costing a total of around £18 million.
Aston Villa fan favourite Christian Benteke hasn't hit the form that he was accredited for last season. Due to injuries and other issues, the Belgian has only hit four league goals at the half way stage of the season.
Paul Lambert will no doubt sign reinforcements in the January transfer window and will try to guarantee that his side don't fall into a relegation battle.
