Top 8: Divers in the Premier League (1)

Published 36 Comments

Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj is the worst diver in the Premier League, after he was booked for simulation for a third time in just 14 senior appearances, in the New Year's Day defeat against Tottenham.

The 18-year-old is developing an unwanted reputation as a serial offender after Howard Webb brandished him with a yellow card, following an alleged tangle with Spurs full-back Danny Rose at Old Trafford.

Januzaj, who has been cautioned on three different occasions for going to ground too easily, is now behind only Gareth Bale in the all-time list of top-flight divers, since the Football Association introduced a rule for mandatory yellow cards for simulation in 2008.

He joins Fernando Torres as the only other star currently playing in the Premier League to have been booked three times for such an offence, though the Chelsea striker has made significantly more appearances than the talented teenager, who is in the middle of his debut season at Manchester United.

The attacking midfielder has made just eight starts for the Red Devils in 2013/14, and found himself in the book for dives in victories against Sunderland and West Ham earlier this season.

It's a trait that manager David Moyes will be hoping to rid from Januzaj's make-up, with the impressionable youngster attracting negative press that is starting to overshadow his undeniable talent.

Click through the tabs - above or below - to see who joins Januzaj and Torres on the list of Premier League's worst diving offenders, based on average number of games per simulation yellow, and add a suggestion in the comment box provided of how the FA should look to stamp it out of the game!
