Liverpool lead Arsenal & Spurs in race for Barcelona winger

Liverpool have been installed as favourites to secure the signature of Barcelona winger Cristian Tello, ahead of Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, reports the Daily Star.

The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Camp Nou during the January transfer window, after seemingly falling out of favour under Gerardo Martino.

Tello has made just two starts for Barcelona in 2013/14, and is understood to be ready to quit La Liga as he goes in search of regular first-team football.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers tried to bring the Spaniard to Anfield during the summer, and the Reds are ready to make a renewed offer for him this month.

Arsenal are being backed as the second most likely destination for the Barcelona outcast, with north London rivals Spurs an outside bet.

Arsene Wenger is known to be in the market for reinforcements at the Emirates Stadium, but it's not yet known whether Tim Sherwood will be looking to do the same, given the White Hart Lane outfit's outlay of over £100million during the summer.
