Manchester United's defeat against Tottenham Hotspur on New Year's Day has increased the pressure on David Moyes to bring in some new faces during the January transfer window.

The Premier League champions recorded their sixth defeat of the season against Tottenham, which is nowhere near the high standards set by Sir Alex Ferguson.

Manchester United lost just five games in the Premier League last season, which shows just how much the Old Trafford-based side have struggled under Moyes.

Moyes' reign at United did not get off to the best of starts off the pitch, as the former Everton boss - along with Ed Woodward - failed to strengthen his squad.

Manchester United's only major first-team signing was Marouane Fellaini, who was bought for a hefty £27.5million and has failed to make any real impact at Old Trafford.

United also seem to be picking up more injuries to their first-team stars which could be due to the amount of endurance work Moyes has integrated into his side's training regime.

Here we list five players who could help Manchester United get back to winning ways and make a charge up the Premier League table.

Some of the stars are already at Old Trafford - but have been sidelined over the festive period due to injury.
