Liverpool are planning a surprise move for Napoli right-back Armando Anastasio, according to sources in Italy, reports talkSPORT.
The 17-year-old defender is yet to make a first-team appearance for Rafa Benitez's side, but has impressed in the Serie 'A' club's youth set-up.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers wants to bring Anastasio to Anfield later this month, after receiving glowing scouting reports on the talented teenager.
Benitez will be determined not to lose out on the exciting young Italian, who is yet to pen a professional contract at Stadio San Paolo.
A high-profile switch to the Premier League might well be an attractive proposition for Anastasio, and the Spanish manager will know only too well the pulling power that Liverpool have, following his successful six year spell in charge on Merseyside.
Glen Johnson is currently Liverpool's first-choice full-back on the right side of defence, and the signing of Anastasio could be viewed as the arrival of a long-term successor for the England international at right-back.
