A former teammate of New York Knicks small forward Carmelo Anthony believes the 29-year-old could leave Madison Square Garden in the near future.

Anthony is said to be disgruntled with life at the new York Knicks, as Mike Woodson's side have struggled for form this season.

The Eastern Conference franchise are currently bottom of the Atlantic Division having won just nine games out of a possible 30.

And Anthony's former teammate, who did not want to be identified, told the New York Daily News that he believes could be looking for a new franchise.

“I think he’s leaving. I’ve played with Melo for a long time and he knows he can’t win here.

"At this stage, all he wants to do is win. That’s why he’ll leave.”

The New York Knicks have lost their last three games, as Anthony and Co. were beaten by the Oklahoma City Thunder on Christmas Day before losing a double header against the Toronto Raptors.

Speculation continues to mount regarding Woodson's future at the Knicks and news of Anthony's apparent unrest will pile more pressure on the 55-year-old head coach.
