Theo Walcott has today said he would like to see 'special' players added to Arsenal squad.

Whilst speaking to Sky Sports Walcott said: “To be fair, that is for the manager to decide if he wants to go out and buy anyone, whoever will come to the club in January, if not it is going to make the club stronger anyway.”

Walcott added "The boss has already said that he is looking for special players and we have got a lot of special players in that dressing room."

After seeing Arsenal pull off one of the transfers of the season on deadline day by capturing Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid, the winger is manager Arsene Wenger could attract other players to north London.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with another Real Madrid striker in the form of the highly talented Frenchman Karim Benzema.

Whilst Arsenal are leading the way at the top of the Premier League there are still areas in which they could improve, with the team relying heavily on midfielder Aaron Ramsey for goals this season.

He has contributed eight goals during this campaign, and another striker would be a welcome addition - especially someone with the quality of Benzema.

With the Express reporting back in November that Arsenal were planning to offer Madrid £27 million for the 26-year-old, there is every chance that the Emirates Stadium outfit could try and lure the Frenchman to the Premier League.

The newspaper also went on to report that Madrid would only consider a deal if they were able to land a suitable replacement, with their prime candidate being the highly controversial Premier League top scorer Luis Suarez.

To complete his raid of the Bernabeu after already landing Ozil and potentially Benzema, Wenger would also like to secure the signing of Raphael Varane - another player who was reported to be on the radar by the Express back in November.
