Arsenal teenager Gedion Zelalem could be afforded a first-team debut in this weekend's north London derby against Tottenham as Arsene Wenger plans to offer some of his creative midfielders a much needed rest.
Aaron Ramsey is missing through injury and Mesut Ozil may not be risked for this FA Cup encounter and, The Telegraph reports, Zelalem could replace his compatriot in the Gunners midfield.
Arsenal host Spurs at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon and Wenger would appear to view this as an ideal opportunity to provide Zelalem with his senior bow in a competitive fixture.
The 16-year-old featured prominently for Arsenal during pre-season, most notably in an impressive victory against Manchester City, but injury has halted a promotion to the first-team since the start of the Premier League campaign.
He featured on the bench during the defeat of Fulham back in August but two months on the sidelines meant he had to settle for place in the Arsenal under-21 squad upon his return to action.
Zelalem came back for the under-21s in November and impressive performances since encouraged Wenger to promote him to the first-team once again.
