The Dallas Mavericks could be without Dirk Nowitzki for tonight's clash with the Los Angeles Clippers, reports ESPN.
The clash with the Clippers comes just two days after the Mavericks' 87-78 win against the Washington Wizards in which Nowitzki sprained his left ankle in the first minute of the game.
And despite Nowitzki returning to play 32 minutes in the match, he could now be absent for tonight's fixture.
Nowitzki consequently missed the Mavericks' morning shootaround, and coach Rick Carlisle has admitted that he's unsure as to whether Nowitzki will be fit in time for the clash.
Speaking to reporters, Carlisle said: "He's doing OK. We'll see."
Nowitzki is the Mavericks' leading scorer and the team will be desperate to see him play tonight, however they may have to take on the Clippers without their star man.
This is now the 10th known ankle sprain of his career and one he will be hoping doesn't keep him out of action.
