Hindsight is a wonderful thing. At the halfway point of any campaign, it always makes for interesting reading when you look back over the many pre-season predictions, and compare them with how the Premier League title race is actually starting to take shape.

Few would have forecast that Arsenal would be sat clear at the top of the table after Christmas, and even less people could have anticipated the struggles that Manchester United are experiencing, with European qualification in the balance, in the post Sir Alex Ferguson era.

In the English top-flight, one thing that seems to be in a constant state of flux is the rise and fall of player reputations, with some stars welcomed in from the cold, while others are ditched in favour of their in-form counterparts.
