4. Steven Caulker

Whose place should he take? Chris Smalling.

Although Smalling is progressing into a good centre-back, the World Cup will come too soon for him. Caulker left Spurs to play regular football and that is what is making him turn into a great centre-back.

He's been given the Cardiff City armband at the age of 22, which must reflect his level of character and leadership. He may not start in Brazil, but he'd be a great reinforcement if Phil Jagielka or Gary Cahill were to get injured.
