Whose place should he take? Ashley Cole.

Cole has been a great servant for England over the years, however he has not been a regular fixture for Chelsea of late. If this continues, Hodgson must look elsewhere, and Shaw would be a fantastic addition to the England squad.

Only 18, he's played 42 times for Southampton already, which in itself is staggering.

He offers a dangerous threat going forward and is also solid in defence. As a back-up to Leighton Baines, he edges Kieran Gibbs in terms of reliability.
