The month of January represents an interesting period in the football calendar.
Not only is it the first time clubs can buy and sell since the summer, but it's also generally considered to be the half-way mark of the footballing year.
Indeed, post-New Year is the perfect time for both reflection and prediction and, with the goals flying in left, right and centre this year, there's no better time to take a look at the individuals who could be sitting at the top of the scoring pile come the end of the 2013/14 season.
That's the right; the coveted Golden Shoe award.
Last year it was Lionel Messi's virtually impeccable campaign that offered the Argentinian magician the award that all strikers want on their C.V. However this term it's been an entirely different matter altogether and, as the race for the respective domestic leagues hot up, there's plenty of candidates for the Golden Shoe.
With that in mind we count down our predicted top 10 for the award this year.
