JR Smith: Unsporting or practical joker?

Published Add your comment

Could JR Smith have landed himself in hot water? The New York Knicks guard was seen to deliberately untie the shoe of Dallas Mavericks opponent Shawn Marion during a free throw on Sunday.

Some would see this move by Smith as nothing more than a practical joke and it was certainly a cheeky little manoeuvre by last season's Sixth Man of the Year.

But was it more sinister than that? Smith's actions could certainly be deemed as unsporting and the league could take the decision to fine him if they agree with this assertion.

The Knicks won the game 92-80, a second successive victory against a team with a winning record, thanks to 19 points from Carmelo Anthony.
