MMA fighter Tito Oritz was arrested on Monday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence after he was involved in a single car collision, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Oritz, 38, was said to have been arrested at around 4am after he smashed his car while driving in West Los Angeles.

The MMA fighter, who has not fought since July 2012 due to a number of injury niggles, was driving his 2012 Porsche Panamera and reportedly crashed while on the 405 Freeway near Sepulveda.

The California Highway Patrol have said Oritz lost control of his car before striking a concrete barrier.

Oritz was carrying two passengers but they are both said to be unharmed.

It is not the first time Oritz has been in trouble with the police as the American, nicknamed The People's Champions, was arrested in April 2010 for domestic violence against former adult film star and mother to two of his kids Jenna Jameson.
