Manchester United boss David Moyes could recall five Manchester United regulars for his side's midweek clash against Sunderland, reports the Daily Star.
Wayne Rooney, Michael Carrick, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra and David de Gea could all feature in the first leg of their Capital One Cup Semi Final at the Stadium of Light in a game of high importance for the champions.
After a disappointing start to his reign at Old Trafford, Moyes will be looking forward to seeing some of his star men ready for a return to action against Sunderland.
The Capital One Cup will be much more important to the champions in comparison to recent years especially after their FA Cup exit at the weekend at the hands of Swansea.
The defeat has left fans asking is Moyes still the man for the job and demanding a busy window. Whilst United have crashed out of the Fa Cup and look out of contention for the league title, the Capital One Cup looks to be the only competition that United have a realistic chance of winning.
Whilst they are still in Europe, United currently do not look like a side that could take it to Europe's elite teams in the Champions League.
Whilst the likes of Rooney, Carrick and De Gea could feature on Tuesday night, it is highly unlikely that Dutch striker Robin Van Persie and Phil Jones will be fit enough to return to the squad in time for Tuesday.
With the transfer window open teams are looking at players that they could bring in to strengthen their squad. Whilst David Moyes has his targets he isn't going to make any promises to the fans regarding signings to bulk up his injury hit squad.
"I have said I will try to get players but it will probably be doubtful in January. I have said that quite consistently." The Scot went on to add: "There is an urgency that we would like to bring players in but are those players available in January?"
"There is no point in me hyping it up and saying we are because players we would like to bring in are probably not available."
There are several top players from all around Europe currently linked with a move to Old Trafford such as Aturo Vidal, Diego Costa and Ander Herrera. Any one of those players could make a different to Manchester United but it remains to be seen if one signing would be enough to please the United faithful.
