Everton youngster John Stones is all set for a big future, claims experienced centre-back Antolin Alcaraz.
The experienced defender has been partnered with Stones in their last two outings, and has told FourFourTwo: "He is a great player and I think he is going to improve a lot. He had a great game against Stoke and also now (against QPR).
"He has a lot of quality but he is a young guy, and he needs more games to improve and learn."
The teenager could find himself in the starting line-up once more for the Toffees as they welcome Norwich City to Goodison Park on Saturday.
Sylvain Distin and Phil Jagielka are both sidelined with injuries that will keep them out of Roberto Martinez's side for the foreseeable future.
Injuries can be expected during such a busy festive period, but to lose two key players in the defence to hamstring injuries would normally be a cause for concern.
However, with Stones gaining more confidence with his introduction into the Everton first-team, an experienced centre-back to partner him will be just what he needs to settle him into the side.
Martinez clearly trusts the young defender to put him into the side, and currently that faith is being rewarded with two excellent displays from Stones.
Alcaraz added: "If he (Stones) continues in this way then he has a big future and he will make a big impact in the Premier League."
Martinez himself has made an impressive start to his Everton career, leading his team into the top four whilst playing an attractive style of football, and also maintaining the second best defensive record in the league.
