In what could be another twist and yet more mind games coming from Indianapolis and Foxborough the Colts have signed former New England Patriots wide receiver Deion Branch, according to PatriotsInsider.com.
Branch - a fan favourite at Foxborough - had 518 catches for 6,000+ yards and 39 touchdowns in a glowing career in Boston and Seattle, included in that is 948 yards and four Touchdowns in post season games.
The former Super Bowl MVP has been working out with the Colts since December, and following injuries in their Wildcard playoff the Colts have an open roster spot for him.
"We have a pool of guys in case you have injuries, Deion was one of the guys we worked out," Indianapolis coach Chuck Pagano was quoted by Sky Sports.
"He's a local guy who lives in Carmel, he's in great shape, had a great workout and obviously he's a proven guy and played at a high level for a long time in this league.”
The announcement comes after the Patriots quarterback stated he had no fear when it came to Andrew Luck.
The rivalry between the two teams had somewhat dissipated since Peyton Manning left Indianapolis, but it seems to be heating up before the playoff game this Saturday in Foxborough.
Meanwhile, the Patriots' season took another blow In the loss of line-backer Brandon Spikes for the season, ranked 2nd in tackles for the Patriots.
Spikes is the 4th defensive player to be placed on injured reserve this season, the biggest loss being tackle Vince Wilfork.
The Patriots play Indianapolis this Saturday in what could be a fantastic rivalry game.
