Giuseppe Marotta, general manager at Juventus, has reassured fans that Andrea Pirlo is close to signing a new deal.

The veteran playmaker has been linked with a move away from Turin, with his contract set to expire in the summer and Carlo Ancelotti keen on bring his compatriot to Real Madrid.

Pirlo has scored three goals in 14 appearances this term for the Bianconeri, as they sit eight points clear at the top of Serie A.

"The team is a strong and functional group and we do not want to sell anybody," Marotta told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"We have a plan that goes on for three years and, at this moment in time, there is no possibility of selling Pirlo, even though his contract is coming to the end."

His comments will please Juventus fans who have been enamoured with the Italian maestro since his move to Turin in 2011 on a free transfer from Milan.

Marotta enthused on the "good relationship" between the club and the Italy international, reinforcing his desire to keep Pirlo at Juventus.
