Chicago Blackhawks star forward Patrick Sharp hopes to fire Team Canada to glory in next month's Winter Olympic games in Sochi, Russia.

The squad for the tournament was announced today, with Sharp, who is on a goalscoring spree of 14 in 14 games currently, picked as well as NHL stars Sidney Crosby (Pittsburgh Penguins) and Steven Stamkos (Tampa Bay Lighting).

Sharp, 32, is certainly enjoying an Indian summer in his career having netted two hat-tricks in his last five NHL games. He is likely to play left forward for Team Canada alongside Pittsburgh captain Crosby, as they look to defend their Olympic title.

Russia are heavily fancied to knock them of their perch, but if Sharp takes his compelling form with him to Sochi, who would want to bet against Canada repeating their heroics of 2010?

Sharp's latest hat-trick for the Blackhawks in the NHL was against the New Jersey Devils on January 3rd.
