Manchester United boss David Moyes has refuted claims his side have agreed a deal to sign Real Madrid full-back Fabio Coentrao.
Reports from Spain had claimed that Manchester United were close to signing the 25-year-old Portuguese international.
However under-fire Manchester United manager Moyes stated after his side's 2-1 Capital One Cup defeat against Sunderland that the Premier League champions were not closing in on a deal for Coentrao.
Red Devils boss Moyes is keen on signing another left-back during the January transfer window as he missed out on Everton star Leighton Baines during the summer.
Moyes came close to signing Coentrao on loan but a deal for the Real Madrid star fell through as the move was not ratified by the Premier League in time.
The former Everton boss did not rule out making a move for the defender, so a deal could still be struck before the end of the month.
