Tottenham Hotspur's record signing Erik Lamela's father has said that the Argentinian is desperate to leave the North London club, according to The Metro.
Lamela only joined Spurs in the summer for a club record fee of £30million, but he has struggled to adapt to life in England, and has scored just one goal for Spurs, in the Europa League - he has also not completed a 90-minute Premier League game since he joined.
Despite Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood previously saying that the 21-year-old would not be allowed to leave on-loan this month, Lamela's father, Jose, says his son is desperate to leave White Hart Lane.
"Erik is not happy and wants to go back to Italy," he told the Italian media.
"He has been linked with Lazio, but I don’t know anything about this. Could he re-join Roma? I don’t know. Tottenham does not want him to leave in January."
It was previously reported that Tottenham would not let Lamela leave on-loan but may be interested in a money-back deal, with Inter Milan, Lazio and Roma all interested in luring the Argentinian back to Serie A in Italy.
It remains to be seen whether or not Spurs will hold steadfast in their reluctance to sell the youngster this month if he openly confirms the claims his father has made.
