Pastor Maldonado

Pastor Maldonado will make his Lotus debut this season.

When it was announced that Kimi Raikkonen will race for Ferrari this season everybody's initial prime candidate for the vacant Lotus position was the highly rated Nico Hulkenberg.

Once the Lotus money problems were made public, Maldoando announced that he would be leaving Williams at the end of the season. The whole F1 world sighed and feared for the worst as they knew Maldonado's £30 million in sponsorship money could save the team.

Yes Maldonado is heavily backed by a large sum of money but he does have immense speed, after all he did manage to fend off Fernando Alonso at the 2012 Spanish Grand Prix to take his first win back in 2012.

The Venezuelan will be hoping to silence his critics with a much stronger season this time around on the back of a highly disappointing 2013.
