Lewis Hamilton

After narrowly missing out on the championship in his first year, Lewis Hamilton finished the job at the second attempt but has yet to add to his single title.

Eyebrows were raised when Hamilton announced his decision to move to Mercedes for 2013 but after a better than expected start to life at the Brackley-based team he looks on track to mount a championship challenge.

With Mercedes aiming to go one better this season, Hamilton is considered to be one of the hot favorites to dethrone Sebastian Vettel.

Many believe due to the new regulations it will pay to be driving for a works team (a team that build and develop their own engine). This could leave Hamilton in with a real chance at the championship.

Hamilton told Sky Sports: "For everyone and for me the target is to win the World Championship, both championships. Of course if we don't do it naturally there'll be some disappointment but we're not even going to put that negative energy out there."

Hamilton's ability and character has been called into question in recent years. After his radio communications to the team during this season has shown a him coming across annoyed with his team over not being given enough information and at sometimes too much on a number of occasions in their first year.
