There’s few players who can boast to either having the ability or being in the form to halt LeBron James in his pursuit of yet another MVP award.
Following his 48 points against the Utah Jazz- despite the fact that the Thunder lost- the 25-year-old small forward has caught up with his Miami Heat rival in PER category for the first team this season.
Durant is now the NBA leader in terms of the PER rankings, having amassed a healthy 29.14 this season, narrowly ahead of James’ 29.05.
When it’s considered that the Thunder are doing better than the Heat currently, and in an arguably tougher division, it’s no wonder that some are now tipping Durant to pip James to the MVP title- an achievement the latter has won four times.
Though James has naturally been performing well above average in the NBA this year, Durant continues to create waves with his consistently high scoring and leads the reigning MVP on this campaign’s stats.
Could King James finally be set to lose his crown?
