Arsenal have reinstated their interest in Porto forward Jackson Martinez by lodging a formal enquiry into his availability, according to the Metro.
The Gunners have been linked with the free-scoring striker in the past, and are now weighing up a move for him if they are unsuccessful in their pursuit of Real Madrid starlet Alvaro Morata.
Martinez has previously been credited as having an interest in the north London club, but it’s thought that it could take as much as £33million to prize him away from Portugal.
Arsene Wenger is believed to be concentrating his efforts on securing a loan move for Madrid forward Morata, but Los Blancos aren’t keen on a letting the 21-year-old leave and so the Frenchman may turn to Martinez as his effective plan B.
The 27-year-old has a incredibly prolific strike rate with his current club, and has netted 14 times in 20 matches in all competitions so far this season.
It remains to be seen how Porto will react to Arsenal's approach, but Martinez could well end up being the Gunners first signing of the winter window.
